A Research of the effect of NLP Group Counseling Program Using Art Therapy for the Stress and Self-efficacy in Children of low-income class

Abstract
The aim of the study was to examine the effects of NLP group counseling program using art therapy for stress and self-efficacy of children in low-income class. Twenty children of low-income class from the 3rd grade in an elementary school to 6th grade were selected in Kchildcare center and D childcare center located in J gun, Jeollabuk-do. These of 20 children, 10 children were in the experimental group and the other 10 were in the control group. The program was performed by two sessions for 60 minutes a week for, a total of six weeks. The study group received NLP group therapy program while the control group received no intervention. Normality check was done on the data using independent t-test analysis. Paired t-test was used to testify homogeneity of two groups in their stress and self-efficacy. Study results are as follow. First, there were significant decreases in overall children¡¯s stress and subcategories such as parents, home environment, schoolwork, friend, circumstance, teacher and school property in the experimental group. Second, there were significant positive effects on their self-efficacy, including subcategories such as self-regulated efficacy, confidence, and preference for task difficulty in the experimental group. The results suggest that NLP group counseling program using art therapy can decrease stress and improve self-efficacy of children of low-income class. Limitations of this study and future tasks are also discussed.
